Weeks 2 & 3: Getting Better

Work has been on overdrive the last 2 weeks, so I decided to skip a week of posting to maintain my sanity. That aside things have been getting better with the health journey.


I started a steady workout program and have been getting to the gym at least 5 times a week, and it really feels good to be getting back into the routine. I’m still feeling kind of bloated and heavy, which is definitely more because of diet than exercise. My current focus is on getting faster/endurance as well as losing the body fat that I put on over the last year. I am enjoying using the stair master for my cardio sessions, and mix in sprint intervals once a week as well.


My diet has had it’s ups and downs. Food has been my go to for years when I’m stressed, so it’s a hard habit to break. Work has been more on the stressful side the last two weeks with busy season and transitioning to a new role, but I overate more than ate unhealthy so that’s a step in a better direction. I also ate out more than anticipated, but tried to make healthier choices most of the time by going to places like Panera for lunch. I am planning on making this week a better week though now that I had a great stress relieving weekend.


I tried out two new protein products this week and loved both! The first were the My Cookie protein cookies. I loved the snicker doodle flavor, it was even better than a Lenny and Larry’s! More flavor and not dry like Lenny and Larry’s can be. The second product – Muscle Egg – was suggested by one of my friends and this one was a real breakfast game changer. I make these pancakes almost every morning now.


I went down to visit my friend Jessica in Atlanta this weekend and had a great little getaway weekend. We hiked Stone Mountain on Saturday, which was awesome! I love to hike. Getting outside is so relaxing for me and this was a perfect one. Afterward we got drinks and lunch at Senor Patron. I had a strawberry daiquiri and a chicken quesadilla along with way too many chips and queso/guac. I’m a sucker for fresh quac! Sunday we had breakfast at my favorite little spot in Roswell. I always get tea, half because the mint tea they have is great and half because I love the little tea pot they give you.

Altogether a great weekend and I’m feeling good about getting back into the swing of things this week. Excited to report back next Monday, until then wishing you all a great week!
